Our Writing Program

"No more writer's block!"

Our WRITING Program is designed to ensure that your child has the solid, grade appropriate skills necessary to communicate effectively on paper. Today, more than ever, strong writing skills are critical to academic success. State proficiency tests, as well as College admission exams, require that students demonstrate mastery of the written word. Students, at every level, learn to express thoughts clearly and develop skills in sentence structure, paragraph development, grammar and writing mechanics.

The program

Our trained teachers instruct their students in the writing process and guide them through the following skills during this process:

• Organization of details
• Topic sentences and transitions
• Paragraph structure
• Essay writing
• Editing and revision

Students gain an understanding of the different purposes for writing and practice different types of composition assignments including:

• Description
• Illustration
• Comparison and Contrast
• Cause and Effect
• Persuasion

In addition, our students increase their command of vocabulary, punctuation and spelling. Working with our skilled tutors, your child will gain confidence and approach his writing assignments with enthusiasm!
